The number of districts in Karachi has increased. The Sindh government has issued a notification for the establishment of a new district in Quaid-e-Azam city. The area of ​​Kemari has been declared as the seventh district. According to details, a notification has been issued by the provincial government regarding the establishment of Kemari district in Karachi. According to the notification, Kemari district will consist of site area, Kemari, Maripur and Baldia Town areas.

Earlier, these areas were part of the western district. Now the western district will consist of Manghopir, Orangi Town and Mominabad areas. It may be recalled that last month, the Sindh cabinet had given approval to make Kemari area of ​​Karachi the seventh district. According to the Sindh cabinet, the new district of Karachi was to include the site, municipality, port and Maripur areas in Kemari district.


Now a formal notification of formation of new district has been issued. Earlier, Karachi's six districts were East, West, South, Central, Malir and Korangi. Opposition parties in Sindh have opposed the PPP's move. Opposition parties are of the view that this move of the PPP government in Sindh is not administrative but political. The main purpose of establishing this district is to benefit the PPP in the upcoming local body elections. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.
