According to the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry, 127,000 foreigners who did not renew their residences online cannot return to Kuwait.
During the Corona Crisis, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior provided a humanitarian facility for residency holders living abroad to renew their residency online. However, those who did not take advantage of this facility may not be able to return. Because after the grace period, their residences will no longer be renewed.
About 127,000 residency holders have not extended their residency, which means they will no longer be able to return to Kuwait. They include thousands of Pakistanis. According to sources that foreigners who have been stranded abroad due to the corona virus and have not renewed their residency online during the deadline cannot return to Kuwait.
In addition, residency holders from countries whose citizens are barred from coming to Kuwait cannot return. Sources said that at present, the number of residency holders staying abroad is around 500,000. On the other hand, the Home Ministry has issued an explanatory statement saying that "the Home Minister has directed three months free renewal of the residency of foreigners in the country". This renewal will take place from September 1 to November 30. Those whose residency has expired after September 1 cannot benefit. The ministry explained that "only foreigners whose residency has expired by August 31 can avail this facility."
